1minute & 48 seconds. In the sequence during the 150th reenactment of the Battle of Balls Bluff three Liberty Rifle infantry fell from Confederate gunshots. A complete rout of Union forces ensued as Evans’ triumphant Mississippians drove the Federals over a steep bluff into the Potomac River, firing into the backs of those who attempted to swim for safety. Included amongst those killed was Union Colonel and Senator Edward Baker, the only sitting U.S. Senator ever to be killed in battle.
