2nd Manassas & Chantilly Remembrance Days
On August 25th & 26th 2012 Prince William County sponsored the 150th Anniversary of the 2nd Manasas / Bull Run Remembrance Days. A parade through the Old Town and activities throughout the weekend commemorated the occasion.
Then on September 1, 2012 Fairfax County Parks Department sponsored the Chantilly / Ox Hill Remembrance on a small portion of the battlefield preserved to commemorate the battle. The major portion of the site was lost to development many years ago with the building of Fair Oaks Mall. With the help of preservationist and prominent citizens, the park was saved by development. Today, it is a tribute to the only major battle to have occurred in Fairfax County, Virginia.
